DIY DOLLHOUSE ACCESSORIES FOR THE LIVING ROOM

Below is a close up of the modern dollhouse living room. Here’s a list of the easy accessories I made using things you likely have on hand or can buy for less than $10! You can easily make a few of these DIY dollhouse accessories in an hour or less. Beware: dollhouse decorating is addicting!

  • Clock- I printed a tiny clock face out and glued it to a black button.
  • Framed picture on the floating shelf- I printed out a small black and white picture and glued it to foam board.
  • Fake plants- I used wooden beads and hot glued trimmings of a fake plant inside of the bead.
  • Books- I cut small rectangles out of foam board and used Elmer’s glue to cover each rectangle in colored card stock. I wrote on the bindings with black pen.

How to make tiny books

  • Pillows- I used fabric scraps and a hot glue gun and filled with cotton ball stuffing.
  • Side table- I spray painted a cork Rust-Oleum silver lilac.
  • Art work- I used these 2×3 mini canvases. My son created the art on the tiny canvas.
  • Floor cushion- Foam board covered in a scrap peice of fabric with cotton ball stuffing.
  • Floating shelf- I used a peice of balsa wood down to a size that fit over the couch. I bought the balsa wood at Hobby Lobby and hot glued it directly to the wall. I used the other half of the peice for floating shelves in the kitchen.
  • Rug- A friend gave me a table runner from Ikea that I used for all 3 rugs in the dollhouse.

DIY DOLLHOUSE ACCESSORIES FOR THE BEDROOM

The dollhouse bedroom is very simple with a bed, dresser, and a nightstand. The accessories really make this space shine!

  • Monogram “M” above bed-  The “M” is cut out of cardboard and I used Mod Podge and glitter to give it sparkle.
  • Book on dresser- A tiny rectangle of foam board covered in navy blue card stock.
  • Large fake plant- I used an unfinished candle stick and snippets from a fake plant.
  • Tiny photo on the dresser- I cut out a tiny picture from an old proof sheet I found in a drawer. Then, hot glued an octagon shaped washer to the back of the photo. It stands up perfectly!

  • Bedding- I used 2 different types of fabric to make up the dollhouse bed. First, hot glue the pattern sheet fabric around the bed. Next, hot glue the top fabric around and fold it down to represent a made bed. I made a cotton ball stuffed pillow to decorate the bed. DIY dollhouse accessories bedding
  • Mirror- I bought a pack of 3 inch mirrors and used 1 in the bedroom and 1 in the bathroom. (Here are the mirrors I used.)
  • Lamp- The dollhouse lamp is made up of 3 pieces. To make the lamp, I spray painted a small wooden pot Rust-Oleum Midnight Blue. Then, hot glued a scrap of white, pleated ribbon around a wooden bead and used hot glue to attach the wooden ball to the pot. Lastly, I used hot glue to add a tiny bead to the top of the lamp.

  • Modern side table- The side table  is an unfinished wood cube. You can easily make one from a scrap peice of wood or buy a wooden cube here.
  • Sticker wall art- My daughter picked out a pack of wooden stickers and we simple stuck them to card stick and attached to the wall with hot glue. Any 3D stickers would make great dollhouse wall art. (Here are 500+ puffy stickers that would work as wall art.)

DIY DOLLHOUSE ACCESSORIES FOR THE KITCHEN

I was scared of the dollhouse kitchen because if you look online there are so many cute, but very expensive things to decorate kitchens. I’m here to tell you all you need is a peice of balsa wood for floating shelves, and foam board and tin foil for a cute vent hood!

  • Cork board- I cut a square cork coaster in half and rounded the edges with scissors. I added a tiny calendar, grocery list, picture, child’s art work, and even fabric swatches from the dollhouse living room to the cork board. I cut sewing push pins off to use as a tacks, and then hot glued the entire cork board to the wall. (Here are similar cork coasters.)
  • Towel rack- I cut the pointy ends off of a toothpick and hot glued a tiny silver beads to each end. Next,  fold a scrap piece of rectangular cut fabric over the toothpick and hot glued the entire thing to the front of the cabinet.
  • White tea set- A tea set it the most bang for yoru buck in the kitchen department. The one I bought came with every white plate, cup, tea pot you see in the picture. (Here is a really cute one with tiny cherries!)

  • Oven knobs- I hot glued 3 small silver beads to the front of the cabinet.
  • Vent hood- The vent hood is a trapezoid shaped peice of foam board covered in tin foil and hot glued to the wall. It is really that simple!
  • Floating shelves- I used the same peice of balsa wood I used in the living room to cut 2 shelves for the kitchen.
  • Stove top- I used 6 random buttons to represent heating plates for the top of the stove.
  • Jars- I used these tiny glass jars and labeled them with my Cricut cutting machine.  Then filled each one with rice, flour, and sugar. (These are the exact jars I used.)
  • Rug- I cut a peice of the same table runner I used for the dollhouse living room rug.
